Resident Scholarships
Academic Merit:
Academic Merit Scholarships will be selected from current high school seniors who meet the academic criteria.

The Utah Resident Freshman Academic Merit Scholarships will be selected from current high school seniors who demonstrate that they meet the academic criteria (see the graphic below).
2024-2025 Scholarship Deadline: March 1, 2024
Required GPA and ACT/SAT scores:
*The unweighted GPA is used. GPA is not rounded.
If you have an ACT superscore that you would like to be considered, you must submit them to UVU or speak with the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office by March 1st.

Students will owe the remaining tuition, general student fees (as notated on the Current Tuition Tables), and other fees associated with their coursework.

Renewal Information
2 years (4 semesters) with a 3.2 cumulative GPA renewal. Beginning with students who graduate high school in 2022: Potential renewal for an additional 2 years (totaling 4 years/8 semesters) with a 3.5 cumulative GPA at the end of year 2 and going forward.
Must take 12 credits each semester.

Scholarship Amount
Pays $3,500 each year ($1,750 Fall semester and $1,750 Spring semester). Students will owe the remaining tuition, general student fees (as notated on the Current Tuition Tables), and other fees associated with their coursework.
How to Apply
- Complete UVU Admission's Application.
- Provide the Admissions Office with an official copy of your high school transcript. This transcript should be dated between August 1 through March 1 of your senior year.
- Submit ACT or SAT Scores.
Even though UVU Academic Merit scholarships do not require a scholarship application, we encourage students to complete the scholarship application to see what other opportunities might be available.
Automatic Considerations
- Students who have completed the following by March 1, 2024, will automatically be considered.
- Complete UVU Admission's Application.
- Provide the Admissions Office with an official copy of your high school transcript.
- Submit ACT or SAT Scores.
- If you meet the Utah Resident Freshman Academic Merit Scholarship criteria, you will automatically be considered for the scholarship.

These scholarships are available to students who were publicly recognized and awarded as a Sterling Scholar their senior year of high school in Utah.

- Region Winners:
- This award is for four years or until you receive your Bachelor's degree, whichever is sooner.
- $2000 per semester.
- Region Runners-Up:
- This award is for two years only.
- $1750 per semester.
- High School Winners:
- This award is for one year only.
- $1000 per semester.

- Must be an incoming freshman.
- Must be a Utah Resident.
- Must have a 3.0 High School GPA.

Renewal Criteria
The following criteria is reviewed at the end of each semester. Failure to maintain this criteria will result in the cancellation of your scholarship opportunity.
- Region Winners:
- Must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA.
- Must earn 15 credits each semester.
- Region Runners-Up:
- Must have a 3.2 cumulative GPA.
- Must earn 12 credits each semester.
- High School Winners:
- Must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Private Scholarships
Large corporations, small businesses, families, and individuals donate through the Make A Gift program to allow students the chance to qualify for privately funded scholarship awards.

- Cannot have a previous Bachelor's degree

Greenlight:
UVU will cover the difference between what a student receives in a Pell Grant and the cost of tuition up to 120 credit hours.

The Greenlight Scholarship will cover the difference between what a student receives in a Pell Grant and the cost of tuition, up to 120 credit hours. This scholarship is funded in part by the Utah Promise Program through USHE and institutional waivers.
2024-2025 Priority Deadline: March 1, 2024
Eligibility
- Complete the FAFSA and receive a Pell Grant each year.
- Be a Utah resident.
- Enrolled on a full-time basis (at least 12 credits).
- Priority given to first-year and second-year students admitted with a complete financial aid file by March 1.
- Must have attempted fewer than 120 credit hours.
How to Apply
- Be admitted to UVU.
- Complete the FAFSA and be awarded a Pell Grant by March 1 (to receive first priority).
- No scholarship application is required. UVU will award the scholarships automatically.
Award
UVU will cover the difference between what a student receives in a Pell Grant and the cost of tuition, up to 120 credit hours. This is only tuition and does not include general student fees or course fees.
A portion of this funding is a waiver and may not be combined with other waivers.
Example:
UVU tuition per semester: $2,561
Student receives Pell Grant for $1,000
Difference: $1,561
UVU provides a scholarship for $1,561
Tuition balance: $0

Honors Program Tuition Award amounts vary from $500 to $1500 for up to eight semesters.
Honors Program Housing Award pays a portion of the rent (roughly 50%) and students pay the remainder plus utilities for up to two years.

About Leadership Programs
Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE)
The Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) is for students who are residents of specific western states. Time spent in Utah, while receiving a WUE, does not count towards establishing residency for tuition purposes.
Fall Deadline: August 1st
Spring Deadline: December 1st
Eligibility
- Must be a legal resident of one of the following states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, Wyoming, the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Federal States of Micronesia, and American Samoa.
- Must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA to apply
- Must enroll and earn 12 credit hours each semester
- Must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA
- Must be enrolled in an eligible WUE degree program. Non-eligible degree programs: Global Aviation, Nursing, High School Concurrent Enrollment, Integrated Studies, Personal Interest, and English Language Learning (ELL)
- Must upload one of the following when applying:
- A copy of a valid driver's license from your state of residency
- A copy of a valid government issued ID from your state of residency

This scholarship is available to students who are within 100 highway miles from UVU’s Orem or Wasatch campuses.

Incoming nonresident Freshman undergraduate who has not previously been enrolled in any other college or university.
The High Schools listed below qualify:
- Evanston High School, Evanston Wyoming
- Kemmerer High School, Kemmerer Wyoming
- Mountain View High School, Mountain View Wyoming
- Lyman High School, Lyman Wyoming
- Must enroll and earn 12 credit hours each semester
- Have a GPA of 3.5 or higher to apply (GPA is unweighted)
- Have an overall ACT score of 22 or higher to qualify

- Waives the non-resident portion of tuition so that students pay only the resident tuition rates.
- The scholarship is renewable for up to eight semesters, as long as GPA and credit hour requirements are met each semester.
